The course aims to encourage a critical attitude to data and trees and to introduce some of the most useful methods and computer programs for analysing molecular sequences. In terms of coverage, it starts with first principles and progresses to the latest methods of phylogenetic analysis.
The importance of bioinformatics has been underlined by the recent creation of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. We think that this course is of major interest to those studying the evolution of genes and species, whether using several genes or whole genomes.
The course was held in September 1-5, 2003 and
formally announced through the embnet-news
mailing list. The registration form is available here.
